Why Full-Time?

Some people have asked, “Why do you need to lead PPI full-time?” That’s a good question! Here’s what I’m privileged to do as Executive Director of Partnership of Pastors International:

  • Provide overall vision and leadership in fulfilling PPI’s mission of encouraging, training and resourcing church leaders in Haiti and other developing countries.
  • Write and publish pastors training courses and other ministry resources for international church leaders.
  • Prepare for and lead all aspects of our pastors training courses.
  • Equip and mentor national trainers and conference teams to strengthen churches and expand the gospel.
  • Provide ways for American believers like you to love fellow believers in poor nations through actions and in truth!

I’m convinced God wants me now to give priority to the poor, not my leftover time and energy. CLICK HERE to read my full PPI role description.

A Typical Week

One of our Board members recently asked me to share some specifics about my “typical” week. Of course, my weeks in Haiti (or elsewhere) differ from my weeks in the USA. When I’m in Haiti, it’s pedal to the metal with our ministry team in preparing and leading each day of our training! Our typical trip to Haiti lasts 14-17 days, which includes travel, leading three (3) PPI courses with our team and often preaching at our host churches. I typically get up at 6:15am and go to bed at 10:30pm after 12-14 hours of ministry work. In 2026, as the Lord wills, we have planned six (6) training trips to train up to 1700 church leaders in 16 PPI courses. We’re excited about this ministry year!

When back in the USA, I structure my weeks around my key responsibilities as Executive Director typically averaging 45 hours each week, more in the 2-3 weeks before a training trip.

  • Mondays – Praying, planning and working on our next steps as a mission ministry. Periodic ICETE or NFT online meetings. Reading, study, writing our next courses. Work with Rena (my wife) on PPI financial questions and/or reporting requirements. (In addition to her part-time job at a local credit union, Rena volunteers 6-10 hours each week to manage PPI’s finances and administration. She does a great job!) Creole language study.
  • Tuesdays – Prayer with a group of men, visiting and helping my widowed mother, personal discipleship meetings
  • Wednesdays – Reading, study, improving/revising our courses or other resources. Working with our Haitian team to prepare all aspects of our next training trip – registration, travel, lodging, all Bibles and materials, shipping, etc. Creole language study.
  • Thursdays – Contact/communication with present and potential support partners. In-person and online meetings, phone calls, texts and emails. Preparing/mail intro materials, preparing for church visits (presentation and often preaching).
  • Fridays – Wrap-up week. Contacts with ministry team, peers and partners. Finish planned tasks not completed earlier in the week. Review/confirm plans for Sunday if we’re visiting and presenting at a partner/potential partner church.
  • Saturdays – Off day for time with Rena, family, friends, supporters, house projects, etc.
  • Sundays – Worship and sabbath time, if we’re at our home church. If we visit a partner or potential partner church, we typically present PPI, preach, answer questions and have lunch with church leaders/members.

Pray for God to give us strength, wisdom and joy in fulfilling the calling He has given us. We sometimes meet ourselves coming and going, and don’t want to grow weary in doing well! Pray that we will abide in our Savior and His Word. Without Him, we can accomplish nothing of value for eternity (John 15:5).

A Kasava Thank-You

March 5, 2026 By Ken MacGillivray 2 Comments

We had just completed Course 3 in Pignon, Haiti, when two pastors (pictured with our team below) came to the door of our lodging. We welcomed them in, offered them a seat and began to talk. Both pastors had completed a PPI course in Hinche the previous week and were so excited about the training. […]
