Some of you have asked why I’m in Africa. Doesn’t Partnership of Pastors train and resource church leaders in Haiti? YES. I’m in Lilongwe, Malawi, Africa this week with friend and mentor, Chuck Ballard, not only to help him with a pastors conference here but also to observe and ask questions to sharpen our pastors conferences in Haiti and other developing countries. Check out THIS VIDEO for more.
A Fresh Look at Jesus’ Church
We began a conversation about the church on Sunday at First Baptist Church of Bad Axe, Michigan. I am currently the interim pastor there. We’re committed to biblically answering the question, Since the church belongs to Jesus Christ, what did He intend? You can watch messages, view sermon slides and check out our Discussion Group questions by clicking HERE.
I’ll use this biblical study of the church as the basis for two pastors training courses that we’re thinking of calling Leading a New Testament Church.
Announcing Partnership of Pastors International!
Friends,
Rena and I believe to our toes that gospel-centered local churches led by godly, well trained pastors are the real hope of Haiti. Do you believe that? But imagine pastors having little opportunity to be trained, almost no resources, and no Bibles for their churches. That’s the reality in Haiti and in other developing nations. Let’s do something about it!
We are excited to officially announce the launch of Partnership of Pastors International (PPI), a nonprofit ministry dedicated to encouraging, training and resourcing church leaders in Haiti and other developing countries. Learn what we’re all about HERE.
What’s Our Story?
I have been leading pastors training in Haiti since 2011. The Lord blessed our efforts and expanded our opportunities each time we offered a pastors conference there. During a conference last February (we trained 177 Haitian pastors), I had as close to a Damascus Road experience as I have ever had in my walk with Christ. I came home convinced that the Lord was leading us to establish a nonprofit ministry to allow our efforts to expand beyond Hopevale Church’s generous support to date. We incorporated PPI as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Fall 2018, I resigned as Associate Senior Pastor at Hopevale in April 2019, and we led another pastors conference in Haiti in June 2019. See what’s coming up HERE.
What’s Our Plan?
We envision offering six foundational courses in strategic cities to make this training accessible to as many church leaders as possible. PPI training will be “traveling Bible college” or “circuit-riding seminary.” Very few church leaders in developing countries can afford or attend the few Bible colleges or seminaries available. If we don’t take pastoral training to them, most front-line church leaders would receive little if any training. We’re determined to do something about that!
Our plan is to pursue individual and church partnerships that enable us to devote full-time to the development and leadership of this ministry.
